Programming Requirements

Doc Films does not impose many restrictions on its programming. Series may highlight the work of a particular director, star, screenwriter, producer, composer, cinematographer, or any other craftsmen worthy of a retrospective. Series may also be organized around genres, periods, national cinemas, political ideologies, or more abstract themes.

Draw up a list of about fifteen to twenty films you would like to see in a series. Then research each film and record the following:

  • Title
  • Director
  • Year
  • Country
  • Running Time
  • Distributor
  • Estimated Rental Cost

Internet Movie Database or All Movie Guide should provide all pertinent information on the first five. Read Kathy's How to Find Distribution Guide to learn about where to find information on the last two. Narrow and re-organize your proposal based upon which films are available.

Your final proposal must have ten titles, each with firm distribution, in addition to two alternates should any of the other titles prove unavailable.

The programming board discourages double features. Reasonably priced short films can be added to a feature at the programmer's discretion.
