Events: More Information

In the past, Doc special events have fallen into 3 general categories: special screenings inside the Palevsky cinema, special screenings outside the cinema, and events that do not involve screening a film at all.

The first category has been, over the years, the most common. We've had many sneak previews, including, most recently, Talk to Her with Director Pedro Almodovar and Brokeback Mountain with Director Ang Lee. We also often screen student films produced by Fire Escape Films.

The second category encompasses a few annual events – the O-week and Summer Breeze films on the quads – and a few more irregular ones, like our screening of silent shorts in the Hallowed Grounds coffee shop last spring.

The third category includes conversations with directors, faculty members, critics or other experts that go along with our regular screenings, events like our upcoming Halloween on Halloween costume contest, and volunteer events to show appreciation for the people who make Doc work.
